Bessie W. “Betty” Veazey, age 95, of Seaford, DE passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017.

          Betty, as she was affectionately known was born and raised in Wilmington, DE, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Florence Wood.  After high school she graduated from Beacom Business College (now Goldey-Beacom College) in Wilmington, DE.

          Betty moved to Seaford in 1941 with her husband, John.  She was a homemaker, who as her children grew older, did work for a time in the office of St. John’s United Methodist Church and at the Methodist Manor House.

          She spent time knitting, sewing, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed playing all games, especially bridge and scrabble. She and her husband enjoyed many years traveling all over the United States.

          Her husband John S. Veazey Jr, died in 1996.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, John E. Veazey.

          Betty is survived by a daughter, Jean Marvel (Art), a son, John R. Veazey (Judy), grandchildren, Pam Campbell (David), Steve Marvel (Denise) and Brenda Pusey (Jeff), great-grandchildren, Lance Marvel (Lauren), Shane Marvel (Cassidy), Jordan Marvel, Zachary Campbell, Megan Campbell, Hunter Veazey and Cameron Veazey and great-great-grandchildren, Kenzleigh Marvel and Kendall Marvel.

          Memorial Services will be on Sunday, May 28th at 2 PM at the Manor House 1001 Middleford Rd, Seaford, DE.

          In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 300 Pine St, Seaford, DE 19973 or the Manor House Acts Legacy Foundation, 1001 Middleford Rd, Seaford, DE 19973.
